Cultural Committee Report

In the year 2010-11 our students participated in music, theatre, literacy and fine arts activities in Mumbai university Youth festival in the month of August 2010.Our college won first prize in street play competition in Gandharv a cultural program organized by Joshi Bedekar college. Our one act play got second prize in Gandharv competition held by Joshi Bedekar College. Our student Sandip Labde won second prize as Best Actor. Our colleges One Act play ‘Ratra Lagnachi’ won third prize in Amdar Chashak One Act play competition. Rahul Ingle won second prize for Best Director and Sagar Shinde won Third prize for Best Actor.

In the year 2011-12 our students participated in Elocution, Drama, One act play, Mono acting skill, Painting and singing. Our student Sandip Labde got selected for Mumbai university Drama group.

In the year 2012-13 “Shravansari” a cultural programme was organized in the month of July 2012. In University Youth festival Sandip Labde won first prize in Mono-Acting and Santosh Satpute won Third prize in painting competition in August 2012.Our College won first prize in inter-collegiate street play competition in Lokmat Yuva Next.

“Shravansari” a cultural programme was organized in the month of August 2013. Santosh Satpute from T.Y.B.Com won 1st prize in clay modeling and poster making in Youth Festival of Mumbai University. He also won various prizes in Fine Arts category in various course level competitions. Mandar Ghag and Group won 1st prize in ‘Lokmat Yuva Next Competition. He also won 1st prize Solo Dance competition held in Mehta College, Airoli. On 18th January 2014, Mr. Shivendra Singh of T.Y.B.Com won 1st prize for Photography and Mr. Sandesh Varghade of T.Y.B.Com won 3rd prize for Rangoli, in “Gandharva”, festival organized by Bedekar College, Thane. On 17th December 2013, Mr. Santosh Satpute of T.Y.B.Com won 1st prize for Egg Sheel Painting and Ms. Mayuri Shinde of T.Y.B.Com won 1st prize for Greeting Card Making, in “Harmony”, festival organized by Adarsh College, Badlapur.

Our Cultural Week Celebration started from 15th January 2014 and will end with Annual Day Celebration today. Prof. Raksha Mahimkar heads cultural committee.

D.L.E.E. Committee
Our college has been running the Department of Life Long Learning and Extension since 2009. This year 33 students were enrolled in the Department.

In year 2010-11 population education club project was chosen to carry out college level activities such as Essay writing competition, Poster making competition, Seminar, Lecture, debate, street play etc.

In year 2011-12 ‘Status of women in society’ project was chosen to carry out survey. Under this project every student took interview of 25 women.

In year 2012-13 ‘Survey of Women’s status’ project was chosen to carry out college level and community level activities.

This year the topic chosen for project was ‘Survey of Women’s Status’ to carry out college level and community level activities. The department arranged special lectures.

On 18th January 2014, the Students of DLLE won 1st prize for “Street Play” in “Uddan” festival, at NKT College, Thane, organized by University of Mumbai.

Prof. Sachin Jadhav and Prof. Satish Salunke actively manage the department.

Attendance Committee
In the first term of the academic year 2013-14, two parents meetings were organized for the defaulters. Due to these meetings, the awareness among students about attendance increased. Prof. Devyani Tambe heads Attendance Committee.
Discipline Committee
Prof. Kavita More and committee actively manage discipline of the college.
Magazine Committee

Our magazine ‘We-Raj’ is a colorful summarization of our efforts towards the excellence. To encourage the creativity and writing aptitude in the students and to give them a platform to express their original thoughts...

The college brings out a magazine named “We-Raj” in which the articles on different subjects by students, teachers and the employees are published. The events and activities of the college are also reported in the magazine. The magazine is published annually.

NSS

In the year 2010-11 NSS unit was headed by program officers Prof. Hetal Ganatra, Prof. Ms. Raksha Mahimkar and Prof. Satish Pawar. The major activities conducted are tree plantation, peace rally.

In the year 2011-12 NSS unit conducted many activities like street play on Aids awareness, peace rally, Mono acting , Poster making. It was headed by Prof. Satish salunkhe and Prof. Shambhavi juvekar.

In the year 2012-13 NSS unit of our college is headed by program officers Prof. Aarif Kapadia and Prof. Raksha Mahimkar. NSS unit in our conducted many activities such as street play on Women feticide, Organization of peace rally on account of Sadbhavana Diwas, Mono- Acting, and Poster Making. Blood Donation camp was organized twice in this year.

In the year 2013-14 NSS Unit of our college is headed by program officers Prof. Raksha Mahimkar and Prof. Yogesh Badgujar. NSS Unit of our college conducted several activities in the academic year 2013-14. These activities include Street-Play, Organization of peace rally, Poster- Making, etc.

Blood Donation Camp was organized twice in this year. First, on 25 September 2013 and second on 6th January 2014 in the memory of our dear founder Shri Ramchandraji Janardan Thakur.

To sensitize the students and to involve them in community development, 7 days residential camp was organized by the NSS Unit of our college at Alibaug, Zirad, Dist, and Raigad.

Achievements:

  • Our NSS unit volunteers received 2nd prize from Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University for performing Street Play “Meri Beti Pyari Beti”
  • Our NSS Volunteers performed various social activities in 7 days residential camp held at Alibaug such as construction of dam, village cleanliness, street play on HIV Aids and corruption, book distribution in tribal area etc.

Placement Cell Committee

The Placement Cell is being managed by Prof. Anthony D’Souza and Prof. Santosh Gaikwad. The Placement Cell of the college organized various programs throughout the year...

It includes lectures, seminars, workshops and placement interviews. The cell has been very useful for the students as it helps them to enhance their knowledge and avail job opportunity.

Sports Committee
In the year 2010-11 Annual Sports event was held from 14th December to 18th December. Revansiddh D. Hingmire from T.Y.B.Com was selected as best player of sports event. Revansiddh D. Hingmire and L. Mehta won 2nd and 3rd prize in weight lifting/power lifting Inter-Collegiate tournament held at Goregaon, Mumbai.

In the year 2011-12 Prashant Pandit was selected best sportsperson of the year.

In the year 2012-13 Annual Sports event was held on 7th January to 10th January 2013. Kabaddi Team of our college participated and won second prize in Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi Tournament at Joshi-Bedekar College.

In the year in the year 2013-14 one of the most important events of our college is Annual Sports Event. It was held from 19th December 13 to 23th December 2013. Throughout the academic year 2013-14, our college students participated in various Inter-Collegiate sports competitions under guidance of Prof. Satish Salunkhe. Our college team won first prize from Thane zone on 21st October 2013 at inter collegiate kabaddi tournament at Y.T.I.E.T College in Bhivpuri, Khopoli. Our college student, AJIT MOKAL, was declared the best player for the tournament. Our girls’ college kabaddi team won the first prize on 20th December 2013 at Narayan Guru College. This is the first girls’ kabaddi team of our college to win first prize in Inter-Collegiate competition since the establishment of our college.

Staff Academy Committee
The Staff Academy is being managed by Prof. Shilpa Palande. For enhancing team spirit and for better cooperation, college staff members work together and started staff academy. The academy runs Tea Club for professors and works to create harmony among staff members.
W.D.C.
Women Development Cell of the college has been actively working for the betterment of the female students in the college. It aims at conducting discussions about the problems of girls studying in the college. It is being managed by Prof. Devyani Tambe.
Alumni Association
The past students of our college have been actively involved with college through Alumni Association.
